Casey's Spotlight: Protecting Medicaid for all Americans

Dear Friends:

The Republican American Health Care Act would kick millions off Medicaid by slashing funding by $834 billion. This would leave many children, pregnant women, people with disabilities, those with complex medical conditions, older Americans, and many veterans without the coverage and care they need.

As part of my effort to preserve this vital program from devastating cuts, on Tuesday, I held a rally in front of the U.S. Capitol. On Wednesday, I led 14 Senators in a letter to urge Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price to stop deliberately misleading the public about the cuts included in the Republican healthcare bill that passed the House of Representatives, and the President’s proposed FY 2018 budget. Following up on that letter, during a hearing of the Senate Finance Committee today, I also questioned Secretary Price on why he hasn’t been honest about how these cuts will hurt millions of Americans who depend on the life-saving care of Medicaid.

Medicaid is under immediate threat. I hope you will join me in continuing to fight to protect this program for those who it benefits.

Thank you,

Bob Casey
