How Health Reform Will Affect Women

Women will see many positive changes in their health care.  The new law will lower health care costs, increase choice, and promote quality, affordable health care for women.

The new law will put a cap on women’s out-of-pocket spending on health care, prohibit lifetime coverage limits, prohibit insurance companies from denying or rescinding coverage, and stop insurance companies from placing annual limits on benefits.

Women are now guaranteed coverage of prevention and basic health services, including maternity benefits.  These initiatives will work towards lowering the cost of health care by treating illnesses before they require more expensive care.
